Dr. Charles Amoo is a skilled energy systems analyst with a strong background in renewable energy, project development, and energy efficiency. He brings a multidisciplinary approach to the planning and execution of solar PV projects across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications.
With expertise in energy modeling, technical analysis, and lifecycle evaluation of energy systems, Charles supports key aspects of project delivery—from site prospecting and feasibility assessments to EPC coordination and post-construction optimization. His practical experience extends to supporting transaction advisory services, ensuring that projects are both bankable and performance-driven.
Charles plays a critical role in helping clients and partners navigate the technical and strategic complexities of solar PV development, combining engineering insight with a clear focus on reliability, cost-effectiveness, and long-term value.
A Mechanical Engineering graduate from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, with further academic and professional specialization in energy and operations management. I hold a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from HeriotWatt University, Scotland, and an MBA in Operations Management from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. In addition, I possess a certificate in Cost Management from Cranfield University, London, and completed a rigorous Project Controls training program at TASC & ECTIB, London (2014–2016), where I was practically trained and certified as a Project Controls Engineer.
With nearly a decade of experience in the petroleum industry, I have worked across both offshore and onshore operations, covering drilling, completions, and project management. At the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC)—the national oil company of Ghana—I have led and contributed to major energy infrastructure projects, including: TEN Offshore Field Development Project (estimated circa USD 5 billion), TEN Interconnected Gas Pipeline (estimated circa 100M USD), Voltaian Basin Onshore Drilling Operations and City Gates Gas Facility Project.
Prior to joining GNPC, I served as Engineering Workshop Manager and Lead Installation Engineer at DENG Limited, Ghana’s pioneer in renewable energy, particularly in solar power solutions since the mid-1990s. During my tenure, I led the installation of solar power systems to support operations at Cargill Cocoa and multiple government hospitals in remote regions, including the Navrongo Health Center, helping to provide stable and sustainable energy solutions.
Currently, I serve as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and long-term partner at Zanet Energy Solutions, where we continue to deliver impactful solar energy projects in Ghana and are actively expanding operations across West Africa. Our work is aligned with the UN SecretaryGeneral’s 2011 vision for universal access to modern energy by 2030, driving forward the global energy transition and promoting sustainable development.
